A Founder’s Passion for Art
Opulands founder Steven van Dongen developed a love for art during his travels through Europe after completing college in the Netherlands. From Renaissance gardens in Italy to sculpture parks in France and the Netherlands, he became fascinated by the way art interacts with outdoor space.That passion deepened during the years he lived in New York City and Washington, D.C., where exposure to world-class museums and public installations further shaped his design sensibility. Today, that perspective informs the company’s approach—blending continental inspiration with California’s light, texture, and rhythm.
